  • The Sekrenyi Festival takes place every year in the month of February. It is celebrated in Kohima district of Nagaland.
  • Angamis tribe of Nagaland, Indian celebrates it. 
  • Sekrenyi usually falls on the 25th day of the Angami month of "Kezei”.The duration of the festival is ten days. 
  • Sekrenyi is also known as the Angami Tribal Phousnyi. 
  • The most important aspect of the Sekrenyi Festival is Thekra Hie, where younger folks sit together to sing traditional songs. During the celebration, the contestants are served with rice beer and meat jugs.
  • The seventh day of the festival is reserved for young men to hunt.
